Preschool Program
We divide our preschool program into two separate classrooms. Our three year old classroom is designated to care for children three years old to four years old. The second classroom is our exclusive Pre K program which is designated to care for children four years old to five years old. Both rooms are designed to care for no more than 16 children. We maintain a child to staff ratio of 7:1 in our three year old program and a child to staff ratio of 8:1 in our Pre K program.
Each classroom environment is carefully organized with a selection of toys, books, and materials, accessible to children. Each week, caregivers plan a daily schedule of activities around a theme and with a focus on specific skills to meet the developmental needs of the children in the classroom. The classrooms are organized into distinct interest areas such as blocks, dramatic play, art, water play, table toys, music and library.
To help children develop into self-confident, caring individuals, our program is play oriented. We, at Kids World believe "play is a child's work" and that through play, children acquire the foundations for reading, writing, and logical thinking. Learning through play is the preparation children need before they can understand how to use abstract symbols such as letters and numbers.
Before children can understand the concept of "soft" and "hard" they need to experience "soft" and "hard" by working with items such as play dough and blocks. Before they can hold a pencil or control it to make a letter on paper they need to have developed their small muscle skills through cutting, pasting, pouring, stringing, and drawing. Kids World also believes in stressing the process of learning and discovery rather than the product.
We feel that parent communication is essential to providing quality child care. Each morning our staff will ask that you inform us of any special needs for the day. At pick up time, you will receive a complete report of your child's day including daily activities, eating, sleeping and disposition. We also offer an open door policy which allows for parents to come into the center at any time of the day. Parents are also welcome to help us with our parties, field trips or special events.
